Meet Our Staff
Dr. Galligan, aka Dr. Pat, joined the Fletcher Animal Hospital team in May 2001, after two years at a successful veterinary hospital in Rutherford County. However, the lure of having his own practice enticed him into purchasing Fletcher Animal Hospital. Pat and his wife, Kit, were married in 1991 and have one daughter, Maeve, and a son, Huffman Patrick. The Galligans also have three pets - Buck, a black lab; a pug, Ben and a cat named Sir Purr. Dr. Pat enjoys camping, hiking, fishing, travel and spending time in the great outdoors.
Dr. Pat grew up near the Charlotte, North Carolina area, where he attended Independence High School. He served honorably in the Coast Guard from 1988 to 1992. During this time Pat was a jet engine mechanic and was part of the crew for helicopter Search and Rescue missions from a Coast Guard base in Brooklyn, New York. Upon discharge from the USCG, Dr Pat attended North Carolina State University (NCSU) where he received degrees in Biology, Chemistry and Biochemistry. He graduated with honors from all three programs. Following graduation he was accepted to the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Georgia. Pat studied diverse fields of animal care, including swine, ratite (ostriches and emus), livestock and small animal medicine. Pat decided to make small animal medicine his career. He began work with the Oglethorpe County Spay/Neuter program and worked for the Animal Intensive Care Unit within the vet school. Dr. Galligan graduated in 1999 and immediately returned to North Carolina to practice in his home state.
Emily, born and raised in little ol’ Asheville, loves to photograph special moments with the Blue Ridge Mountains as a backdrop. She may be young but she has shown immense determination and loyalty to Dr. Galligan and Fletcher Animal Hospital. She loves to watch any Hallmark Rom-com movie, especially Christmas editions, and spend time with family and friends.
Lana, originally from Alabama, made the Blue Ridge Mountains her home in 2006. She has been with FAH for 10+ years now. Our clinic cats, Oscar and Hank think of her as a second mom. Outside of work, she spends almost every night with her husband at the gym. She is currently studying to get her degree in Dental Hygiene. You can catch her re-watching her favorite movie, National Lampoon Christmas Vacation, or jamming out to any genre of music.
Andrea has been with Fletcher Animal Hospital since 2009. Dr. Galligan saw her basically grow up. She is a mother to sweet little Myles, who is now 4 years old, Trigger (the clinic dog), in sweet memory of Barley and 2 cats. She has such a sweet and beautiful soul, and is willing to help anyone in need. She is a great teacher, showing off her skills to hit a patient’s vein on the first or second try. She loves to spend time with Myles, and loves to spend her weekends outside next to the grill. Fun fact: she went to school with Luke Combs.
Leigh Ann Purvines
Leigh Ann is originally from Sunshine State, ol’ Florida. She graduated in 2015 with her Bachelor of Science from the University of North Florida. Leigh Ann absolutely adores her 2 dogs, her cat and her husband. She moved up here 3 years ago, where her husband is stationed but will unfortunately be leaving us March 2021. She will be deeply missed but for now- in her free time, you can catch her at the dog park with her 2 Goldens, or having a great time at a brewery. She is a social butterfly, and will immediately become your friend. Go Gators!
Jenny brings the motherly advice to the clinic. Jen is from Fairview, North Carolina, raised just like a southern belle. Her jokes and stories will always bring
joy into the office. If anyone needs a pick-me-up, Jen is your go-to gal. Her favorite sports team is Clemson. If she’s not in the office, you can find her in the next city over camping with her husband, 2 boys, and 4 dogs!
Dianne loves to spend her free time gardening, and taking care of her outdoors. Most of our staff is deathly afraid of bugs, but Dianne is our hero! She will just let a spider or beetle crawl up on her hand! Dianne has 18 years of experience in the Veterinary world, and is always first to volunteer in tricky situations, and never hesitates. She always brings a positive attitude. She is a team player!
Katelyn recently joined our team in the summer of 2020. Through the midst of a pandemic, she has been a big help and great addition to our Fletcher family. Katelyn graduated from Eckerd College with her Bachelor of Science Degree in Marine Biology and Environmental Science, and hopes one day to be a veterinarian. In her free time, she loves to hike, spend time on the water and play with her dogs, Fender and Daisy. She lights up the office with her jokes and contagious laugh.
